Rotarians Gather for Annual Conference

Rotary International District 5910 hosts largest Rotary Conference in The Woodlands

The Woodlands, TEXAS (May 9, 2011) Rotarians from the Southeast Texas region met last week to exchange service project ideas with neighboring districts and Rotary leaders. Over 41 Rotary clubs and 250 participants were in attendance for the Annual Conference hosted by Rotary International District 5910.

The four-day conference was held at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center. The multi-district conference kicked off with the College of Governors Dinner hosted by the 5910 District Governor, Rose Austin. Additional Conference highlights included leadership seminars, group student exchange presentations, service project spotlights, and keynote speeches from Nai Wu, Rotary Peace Fellow, Ed Futa, Rotary International President Representative, and Phil Silvers, former Rotary International President.

"This year's conference provided attendees with information and resources for advancing each club's service efforts, as well as an overall understanding of each Rotary district's impact on local and international communities," said Ann Wolford, Conference Co-Chair.
"One of the conference highlights was the 'Interacts Projects' presentation by the Interact Clubs of College Park High School and Montgomery High School. It was truly inspiring to witness outstanding young leaders in our community who will serve as the next generation of humanitarians and exemplify our motto of service above self."
